Leon Kanegis papers, [ca. 1940s - 1990s].

The collection consists of Leon Kanegis' writings on various civil rights issues and religious and political topics, as well as copies of his letters to his family. Also included are Kanegis' teaching and committee membership files, spiritual diaries, and cassette tapes on teaching in the First Day School. There are also annotated books on faiths explored by Kanegis and letters from the children whom he taught.

Friends Meeting of Washington was established as an independent meeting on Florida Avenue in the District of Columbia in 1930.
